Hey there, nice to meet you!

Hey there! I’m LaKeshia and welcome to Mindfully Restored Counseling. If you’re on this page, you’re probably wanting to know a little more about me, which is cool. I respect it and actually

encourage everyone to “interview” their potential therapist. After all, you will be sharing some heavy stuff about yourself. But back to introductions.

I completed my B.A. in Psychology from Texas Tech University in spring 2009, and my Masters in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University in spring 2012. After completing a 3,000-hour clinical internship in 2014, I became a fully licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas.

I have ten years of experience in inpatient psychiatric hospital settings, caring for adults and adolescents at varying levels of care including: triage and intake, emergency crisis stabilization

to inpatient units, as well as discharge planning and after care liaison. I also have years of experience from group counseling in community health/church counseling centers, as well as a

women’s recovery group for incest and sexual abuse, for whom I still volunteer my time weekly.

My clinical approach is a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and is solution focused. That’s a lot of textbook wording. To put it simply, my style of

counseling is helping you, from an objective and unbiased perspective, to challenge intrusive thoughts and acknowledge how your current—or past—behaviors are impacting your life. The

uncertainty of life transitions, stress from crisis of identity, shaming yourself as a result of overwhelming self-doubts or insecurities, or even just overall anxieties and depression can cause or lead to mental and emotional blocks. Together, we will work to push past those blocks.

I became a counselor because I love people. I’m fascinated by and curious about people. My goal as a therapist is to help you overcome the issues that trouble you and encourage you to develop healthier expectations for yourself. The first step though is

completely yours to take. Are you ready?

Fun facts: I’m a left handed and naturally clumsy person who loves corny jokes and random

facts. I also love to travel and I’m a vinyl record enthusiast/collector.
